In the
days when journeying to and from London was a long
and tiresome business, this old historic coaching
inn, The Oak, was a welcome sight to many a weary
traveller. The inn was reputed to have taken its
name from a large and ancient oak tree that once
stood on the site, and it is said that the wood from
the tree was actually used in the building of the
house.
The oak Bistro opened its doors in March 2009 with
respect to the history of the building and
maintaining the ethos of a Grade II listed building.
It is now a firmly established favourite bistro in
Cambridge with local locals and regular
international visitors |
